From London to Brighton; Sequel Turns to Trilogy

This entry is about my third trip to Brighton, and to get things started, let me reference a quote from my journal. “The weekend was definitely not anything I would have expected or even imagined.”

Why back to Brighton with so many other places to go? The reason is a friend of a friend from Waterloo. An Englishman from Brighton (originally Reading) who went to the University of Waterloo. Oddly, I never met him while he was in Canada, but he hung out with and got to know many of my friends. Me without a telephone and he temporarily without Internet meant that we didn’t meet up during my last visit. I was interested in meeting him, as well as looking forward to seeing what all this raved about Brighton nightlife was like. (more…)

Brighton & Beyond

I had been in London for quite awhile. Too long in fact. There are many things about the city that I love, however it is a massive city where everyone is in a hurry to get wherever. Without going into detail about the stresses of metropolitan cities, it was time for me to leave, and NOW!

I hit an Internet café and made a list of places that I’d like to hit. From there, I went through the list and searched for accommodation in each place. It was Friday night however, and people were coming to town to party. My results were less than encouraging. At this point it was nearly 7:00pm, and I had yet to figure out where I was going, or where I was staying. The place I had been staying near Piccadilly (where my packed and ready to go bag was stored) was booked as well. I started looking elsewhere in London, admitting defeat in that I would not be leaving London after all. (more…)
