One of the reasons I tend to be terrible at posting over the last few months (or perhaps more), as odd as this may sound, is chronological consistency. Maybe it’s when I push the post button, the blog software sticks a date and time on the entry. As many of you that know me know, time and I don’t get along so well. Someone coined the term “geva timeâ€, which is really the best way to describe it. Things happen according to “geva timeâ€, which does have similarities to the understood and accepted Cartesian time, however “geva time†seems to have a different reference point (see Einstein’s theory of relativity about time references). Anyway, I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I don’t operate within the accepted linear time, and am going to start rolling with it more (in the case of the blog at least).
One really good reason for this is that I’ve frequently had moments where I wanted to do a short post of something that had or was happening, however couldn’t, as I had many “back issues†yet to be published. Bullocks to that.. from here on in.. it’s coming at you from various directions! A post could have happened that day, or it could have happened 6 months ago. The six months ago stuff is today’s goal.. get everyone caught up on what I’ve been up to and what has been going on in my life. I am proud to present you with today’s show… (more…)
OK.. ok.. FINALLY some pictures of Lyon! I’ve been here how long? More are on their way as well.
This fun weekend was my first in Lyon, and a real surprise. Turns out that there was a CouchSurfing gathering planned, and we all went around to see the sites as well as had fun getting to know one another at a couple bars (and of course in the rain).
It was the end of November, and I was starting to get pretty itchy about getting down to the Alps and finding work as I knew it was getting seriously late and that the season would start soon. My side trip to Germany wasn’t helping, but I figured that the timing would work out as it should if I continued to go with the flow.
After returning from Germany, I spent the weekend with my good friends Christina and Jonathan in Brussels, and bought my reservation for the TGV from Brussels to Lyon. As usual, I left things to the last minute, but needed to get on the road and getting closer to the mountains.
I checked for a hostel the day before I left, but didn’t find anything. I quickly hopped on CouchSurfing, did a CouchSearch, and sent a few e-mails off to people. I figured that it wouldn’t be too difficult to find something once I got there, as Lyon is a major city (I think the 3rd largest in France), and would surely have a number of hostels.
